A Night in Boston: Kicking Off Motivation with Mel Robbins
This May, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the kickoff show for Mel Robbins at the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, and let me tell you, she absolutely nailed it. The energy in the room was contagious, and it felt like I was part of something truly special from the moment I stepped inside.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with people eager to connect, share, and support one another. It was fascinating to witness how open everyone was, striking up conversations with strangers and exchanging stories. The quality of the swag was impressive too—I purchased a personally signed book, a Let Them (the tour) hoodie and Mel had curated swag bag filled with goodies like a pen and notebook, all carefully hand-stuffed by Mel herself and her team.
Mel took the stage with her trademark charisma and humour, igniting motivation in everyone present. You can’t help but feel like she’s speaking directly to you, gently coaxing out those dreams you might have kept tucked away.
One of the standout moments of the night was witnessing the bond between Mel and her daughter, Sawyer. Their relationship has not always been an easy one, as they explained; they are quite different, and navigating that contrast has required growth and understanding. However, the journey they’ve taken together shows the importance of digging in and finding a way through the tough times. When both are open and willing, it can lead to profound healing and connection. Their dynamic serves as a beautiful example of how maturity and self-reflection can strengthen relationships, even when the path isn’t straightforward.
Adding to the evening’s warmth, we also enjoyed a surprise performance from Mel’s other daughter, Kendall, who captivated us with her new song. The genuine mother-daughter connections between Mel, Sawyer, and Kendall added an extra layer of depth to the event, underscoring how accomplishments and dreams are meant to be celebrated together.
And let’s not forget the touching moment when Oakley, Mel's son, joined us via FaceTime. His appearance served as a reminder of the importance of family support, and it was a thrill to see how connected the Robbins family is, even from a distance.
Throughout the night, we laughed, cried, and reflected. Mel has a unique way of blending humor with profound insights, making the experience deeply moving. I found myself tearing up at several moments, touched by her words and the stories shared. Once again, I walked away from her event feeling inspired, knowing that I had received something truly valuable. A gift and love from everyones friend, Mel.
Now, most nights, I cozy in and wear my Mel Robbins tour sweater as a reminder of that unforgettable experience. There’s something comforting about slipping it on; it’s like wrapping myself in the energy of that night—the laughter, the inspiration, and the connection. It serves as a daily affirmation, a soft hug reminding me to put her teachings into practice: to step into my power, embrace my choices, and pursue my goals fearlessly.
Mel has been a significant part of my motivation. Alongside psychotherapy and EMDR, which have played a pivotal role in my trauma healing journey, her words resonate deeply within me. It feels empowering to get healthy, break the traumatic cycles in life and family, and embrace the healing process. Mel consistently inspires me to feel motivated and empowered, reminding me that I have the strength to continue this journey of self-growth and transformation.
Mel’s message of shifting from "let them" to "let me" resonated deeply with me. It’s easy to fall into the trap of letting others dictate your path, but Mel reminded us that we have the power to choose. Her encouragement to focus on what brings us joy and to let go of what doesn't serve us continues to linger in my thoughts long after the show.
If you ever get the chance to see Mel Robbins live, I highly recommend it. If not, listen to her book(s). Experiences like this not only reignite our motivation but also foster a sense of community and connection. So here’s to stepping into our power, embracing our choices, and surrounding ourselves with energy that uplifts us—just like that memorable night at the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston.
